Nevada Desert Big Horn Sheep

Nevada Desert Bighorn Sheep Hunt

It took 25 years for me to draw a Nevada desert bighorn tag, and I filled it after five tough days of hunting in Unit 271. The ram was the second-best we saw (out of some 50 rams) and scored near 160. I was guided by Cary Jellison of G&J Outfitters, and he did an excellent job. The ram was the second-largest taken in the unit by 42 hunters over the past 6 years. It completes for me a long-awaited second Grand Slam. A great hunt! J.Y.

J.Y. Jones Armenia Trip

Armenia Hunting Trip

I recently returned from a hunting trip to Armenia. I was hunting Armenian mouflon, one of the hardest animals in the world to take from native habitat, and I was unsuccessful. I’ll be returning for another try later this year. However, I did take a huge bezoar ibex, and a picture accompanies. Blessings to you! J.Y.

Now I’m in Moscow on my way home. I’m tired of speaking Russian and want to speak English […]

Hangai argali taken during Mongolian Hunting trip with J.Y. Jones

Mongolia Trip

I’ve just completed a two-week hunting trip to Mongolia, taking a 49-inch argali, a white-tailed gazelle, and a Gobi ibex. I leave for Armenia shortly to again try to take the wary Armenian mouflon sheep. The picture is of my Hangai argali taken late last month in Mongolia.
